PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: August 13, 2026

This policy explains what Umbra — Carve the light (“Umbra”, “the app”) collects and why.

What we collect

Account data: when you first open Umbra you are signed in anonymously with no personal information required. If you choose to back up your progress, Umbra links your account to your Apple ID or Google Play Games identity, which shares a stable identifier and, in Apple's case, an email you can choose to hide.

Gameplay data: your chosen display name, level progress, and star totals, stored against your account so they survive a reinstall or new device.

Analytics and crash data: Umbra uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand feature usage and diagnose crashes. This includes device model, OS version, app version, and anonymized usage events.

Advertising data: Umbra shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect device identifiers (such as your advertising ID), IP address, and app usage data to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where your device settings permit it. You can limit ad personalization through your device's OS-level privacy settings.

How we use it

To keep your progress synced across devices, to show you the leaderboard, to fix bugs, to understand which parts of the game are working, and to support the app through advertising.

Third parties

Umbra relies on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics), Google AdMob, Apple Sign in with Apple, and Google Play Games Services. Each operates under its own privacy policy in addition to this one.

Data retention and deletion

Your account data is retained as long as your account exists. To request deletion of your data, contact appdevad@icloud.com.

Children's privacy

Umbra is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them beyond what is described above for anonymous gameplay.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the app changes. Continued use of Umbra after an update means you accept the revised policy.
